Cllr Colin Foster reports on fostering

Stockport Council is running a number of drop in sessions and open evenings for people who may be thinking about fostering older children and teenagers.

The council’s fostering team is inviting residents to come along and meet local foster carers who will be sharing their experiences of fostering older children and teenagers.

The drop in sessions are being held as follows:

  • Thursday 8th February at Central Library 11am-2pm
  • Friday 9th February at Costa Coffee at the Peel Centre 11am-2pm.

There is also an open evening being held Tuesday 6th February at the Town Hall at 6pm.

Finding people with the right skills to foster older children is a high priority for us and our foster carers benefit from the support and training the local authority provides. These events give people who are considering fostering the opportunity to take the first step and find out more about fostering in Stockport.

For more information about becoming a foster carer, contact the Council’s Fostering team on 0161 474 3400 or visit the fostering web pages.
