Stockport Council celebrating International Older Person’s Day 2019 in Stockport with an Age Friendly Week of activities, 30 September to 6 October.

The week will celebrate the launch of the Culture Champions Programme in Stockport by putting on a series of cultural ‘taster’ sessions. The Stockport Culture Champions Programme wants to enable organisations, community groups and freelance practitioners to develop cultural activities for and with older people in Stockport, and increase their reach to older people.

Culture Champions are volunteers over the age of 50 who want to help, develop, and promote cultural activity of interest to older people; and plan and organise events.

If you are interested in becoming a Stockport Culture Champion or would like to hear more about the Culture Champions Programme, come down to the taster sessions during Age Friendly Week or contact lucy.webster@stockport.gov.uk.

If you are over 50 and have always wanted to try cultural activities or develop your skills further in painting, pottery, crochet, creative writing, or dancing, here is your chance with our free drop-in sessions and workshops.

The Council also wants to find out your views, so pop in to the cultural taster sessions and have your say about what cultural activity you would like to see happening in Stockport.

For more information on the events go to the events page.
