Amanda Peers for Manor

Here we profile our brilliant candidate for Manor ward, Amanda Peers.

Amanda is part of a Local Labour team which in the six months to December 2017 has delivered over 5000 post cards and frequent newsletters to almost every property in the ward- keeping residents updated and in touch.

Amanda has a background working as a Community Development Worker and has spent many years working on behalf of Stockport Council. This means Amanda has years of experience and knowledge in bringing Communities together, getting things done and of how the Council works.

Speaking about her motivations, Amanda said:

“I want to work with the community to help identify important issues, understand people’s needs and wants and ensure everyone is listened to and involved in decision-making.

“I feel strongly about looking after the most vulnerable members of our society, addressing inequalities and maintaining quality public services for the many not the few.

“Building the capacity to bring about change in neighbourhood is already at the core of what I do. I am passionate about community empowerment, and believe my background can help provide a strong voice for the people of Manor.

On why voting for Labour is important, Amanda said:

“I am proud to be part of the Stockport Labour team. Stockport Labour have a record of working hard and delivering improvements across Stockport but specifically for Manor Ward.

“We’ve seen footpath improvements, new housing developments, and regular doorstep engagement with residents resulting in a wide array of local issues being reported and acted upon.

“My priorities as a Councillor will be to ensure continued focus on fly tipping, anti-social behaviour, crime and parking issues, whilst also promoting strong communities through advocating for community groups and assets such as parks and green spaces.

“I pledge to continue working all year round on behalf of residents, stay in touch on the doorstep, and keep identifying and acting on the issues that matter for Manor.”
