A personal message from Labour’s Charlie Stewart to the people of Manor
“I’ve been proud to serve to my community in many ways over the 17 years I’ve lived here and I would consider it an absolute honour to serve you as your councillor.
“Living locally as I do I have a first-hand insight into what really matters to you – my neighbours – and the challenges we face. I’m up to those challenges.
“If elected, I pledge to work tirelessly to fight for our community, to protect the services we all rely on and to show what a difference a truly committed local councillor can make to the place we all call home.
“I’m a proud Stockport resident and like a growing number of people I talk to in the ward, I’m angry at how the Lib Dems have allowed our town centre to run into decline. I welcome the new developments in progress now but the Lib Dems have had 18 years in control of the council without lifting a finger to help the town centre reach its full potential. That’s a huge disservice to us all. Cllr Derbyshire’s shoddy handling of the Stockport Market consultation fiasco is the final straw for many of us.
“Many, many people tell me on my regular walkabouts and in doorstep conversations that they want change in Manor. They want a Labour councillor to properly challenge the Lib Dems and end their monopoly. Manor and Stockport deserve much better and I believe only the Stockport Labour team has the vision and energy to deliver a brighter future for everyone.
“I hope you will place your trust in me by voting Labour on May 5th. I won’t let you down.”

Thanks Terry, your kind words are very welcome. I think after 18 years of Lib Dem control Manor and Stockport are ready for a change and I would really like to be a part of that.
