Charlie said ‘Having lived in Heaviley for more than 17 years I’m proud to have been selected as the Labour Candidate for Manor ward.
‘I think it’s extremely important for our area to be represented by a Councillor who lives with the same challenges which residents face on a day-to-day basis, and who genuinely is committed to listening to the views of local people.
‘My priorities are to protect St Thomas’, Woodbank and Vernon Parks, campaign for more police on our streets to tackle local anti-social behaviour, and to champion and support local businesses which are vital as places of employment and for boosting our economy.
‘By contrast Councillor Derbyshire has delivered £18.6 million of cuts to local services as Leader of the Council this year, and presided over a shambles in relation to Stockport Market, ignoring the views of local residents and leading to the resignation of a Manor Councillor from the Lib Dems.’
Charlie is retired, having worked for British Telecoms, and is a proud Stockport resident who is concerned at the decline seen in the Town Centre and thinks a Labour Council can deliver real change for Manor.
Charlie has been a school governor and believes that a good primary education is vital in ensuring young people achieve their full potential, something which would continue to be one of his key priorities if elected on 5th May.
Charlie added ‘This ward is a crucial two-way fight between your reliable Labour team and a Lib Dem Council Leader who is increasingly out of touch which the concerns of local people.
‘If you want to save your local public services from an onslaught of Lib Dem or Tory cuts then there is only one choice at the local elections on Thursday – a vote for Labour.’
