Cllr Tom Grundy’s election message

“I am very honoured that the Labour Party have chosen me to stand as their candidate . I have been privileged to have helped and worked with residents and community groups throughout the whole of the Reddish South ward.
Reddish South councillor, Tom Grundy, with the Friends of Reddish South Station

“The last four year has seen unprecedented cuts to Local Authority services that has impacted on everyone, but it’s been the young and the most vulnerable who have been hit the most. Youth services virtually non existent, parks and recreation facilities left with a skeleton work force, reduced hours for care services for the elderly.

“The council are constantly turning to the voluntary sector to fill in the gaps in the services, however despite all the excellent work these voluntary community group provide, they cannot replace a dedicated and trained service providers. We do have tremendous community and friends groups who do some magnificent work throughout the Ward and their input that improves the communities in which they serve.
“However, we cannot continue to run down areas where people are having to turn to food banks to ensure that they can provide adequate meals for their families.
“If elected I and my fellow Labour colleagues will strive to ensure that the neglected vulnerable people in the community we represent are the main priority.
“We will continue to work for a Labour Government that knows destroying local authority services has the most detrimental effect on the weakest and most vulnerable in society.”

Andrew Gwynne MP added “I have been delighted to work with Tom over a number of years, he is a hard working Councillor who is dedicated to the people of South Reddish, Heaton Chapel and Heaton Norris”.
