Dan Oliver’s 18 month Journey | From Then To Now

Shaun Freeman has been following our Offerton candidate’s campaign and writes:

It seems during an election campaign, especially at the local level, there is a game of Where’s Wally played with the candidates.

You couldn’t play it with Labour’s Dan Oliver … You’d find him right away.

Dan is, and always has been, active in Offerton.

Long before his selection Dan was a key member of the community. He never stopped in his mission to make Offerton an even greater, safer and more pleasant place to live.

It is this commitment that shines through when he knocks on doors and residents say, “yeah I know Dan, he helped me with forming the neighbourhood watch” or  “oh Dan, yes, he let me know about the water situation”.

Dan Oliver, over the last 18 months has become a prominent figure in Offerton by listening, asking, and getting things done.

Offerton residents are aware that when they ask Dan for something he really will do his absolute best to help.

For Dan, Offerton has always been his home, and the opportunity to help the area he grew up in is something he takes overwhelming pride in.

Don’t take my word for it – here are just ten undeniable proofs of Dan’s commitment to Offerton:

  1. Spoken to more than 4,000 residents and completed over 300 pieces of casework
  2. Knocked on over 1,000 doors himself and almost every door in Offerton with his team
  3. Led on efforts to tackle loan sharks in Stockport, and hosted a local awareness event
  4. Pavements were made safer by the Bosden Farm shops, after dan made first contact with the private landlord
  5. Supported residents in setting up new neighbourhood watch schemes, including on Swanage Avenue
  6. Kept residents updated when there were water supply issues in Offerton
  7. The mini-roundabouts along Shearwater Road were repainted due to Dan’s efforts
  8. The overgrown footpaths between Oakland Avenue and Wellfield Road we’re cut back
  9. Campaigned for more council action to be taken in tackling speeding and traffic problems, particularly on The Fairway and Shearwater Road
  10. Consistently monitoring and communicating with the council to remove fly tipping

This is just a snapshot of Dan Oliver’s history working with the people of Offerton. It is about time that this area has an ambassador that is truly passionate about change for the better. Vote Labour, vote Dan Oliver for Offerton on May 3rd.

Let’s hear from the man himself.
