Dena Ryness, Labour’s Candidate for Stepping Hill, is the best choice at the local election on 5th May to stand up for people in Davenport, Woodsmoor and Hazel Grove.
Dena said ‘I’m proud to have been selected as the Labour Candidate for Stepping Hill. Our ward is a close three-way fight and every vote will count in two weeks’ time.
‘My priorities are to solve local parking and traffic problems, to safeguard great community assets such as Great Moor Library, and to improve accessibility at Woodsmoor train station.
‘The Tory Councillors in Stepping Hill recently proposed even deeper cuts to our local Council – if I am elected on 5th May my pledge to residents is that I will do everything I can to shield them from the worst impacts of what this Conservative Government are doing.’
Dena works as a nutritionist and is committed to improving health outcomes across Stockport.
As a former youth worker she is also dedicated to ensuring every young person in Stepping Hill gets the opportunities they deserve.
Having been a school governor in the past she is concerned about Tory plans to force every local school to become an academy.
Dena added ‘The Lib Dems are threatening another review of libraries, something which could affect Great Moor Library and which I asked senior Councillors for public assurances about on 7th April. They already cut staffing there in 2014.
‘This is just one example of where Stepping Hill needs to elect a Labour Councillor next month – we must protect the local services which residents value the most, and the Councillors in our ward simply aren’t serious about doing that.’

Hi Dena,
Thanks for your support for Great Moor Library . I look forward to your support in my campaign if the new Stockport Council Labour Executive propose any cuts in hours or , heaven forbid, closure .
