Housing and Planning Meeting With Peter Dowd MP

Stockport Labour Group With Peter Dowd MP

Stockport Labour Group met with Bootle MP Peter Dowd on 15th April to discuss the potential impact of the Housing and Planning Bill, currently passing through Parliament, on Stockport.

Peter, also former Leader of Sefton Council in Merseyside, has been working with Labour’s Shadow Housing Team to highlight the impact of the Tory proposals.

The bill includes changes which would end lifetime tenancies for new social tenants, introduce ‘pay to stay’ for many residents in employment who live in social housing, and extend the right to buy to tenants in housing associations properties.

Labour will do more to build affordable and social housing, both to buy and to rent, in Stockport and you can view our detailed proposals under the ‘strengthening our communities’ section of our manifesto.
