Peel Centre visitors have been in contact with Stockport Labour raising concerns about being fined for parking in the Peel Centre car park despite paying.
Cllr David Meller, the Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration, made immediate enquiries, asking officers to raise the issue with Peel Holdings as a matter of urgency.
Peel Holdings have explained how they acquired a new provider to manage the car park, but unfortunately the new equipment the provider has installed was suffering from teething problems.
On the car park, Cllr Meller said:
“Over the last week or two, we have seen a spike in complaints from visitors about Peel Centre car parking fines.
“The Council has a good working relationship with Peel Holdings and they were as equally concerned about the complaints as we were. They are as keen as I am in that people use and enjoy our town centre, with the growing offer it now has.
“To their credit, Peel have acknowledge there was a problem and I am thankful to them for that. We hope visitors will notice an improvement and I will continue to monitor the situation.”
Stockport Labour welcome Peel Holdings response and we are confident they will resolve the parking ticket issues as a matter of urgency.
