We the undersigned, have committed to support the principles of the Unison Ethical Care Charter for Residential and Home Care Services, and to incorporate these in the development of our own Stockport Ethical Care Charter. As such, we note with concerned interest the proposed changes to the terms and conditions of employees of Borough Care Ltd, a major provider of care for the vulnerable in Stockport.
We view any changes which could affect the wellbeing, safety or care of the residents in these homes with great concern. The pay and conditions of Borough Care staff come under this category; as staff satisfaction, quality and retention are issues of direct relevance to the care they provide.
We subsequently strongly encourage Borough Care to work in partnership with Unison, its members and all staff affected by the proposed changes to work toward a mutually agreeable position which ensures no negative impact on employees or the residents and service users they serve.
