POST 16 OPTIONS EVENT A GREAT SUCCESS

A Post 16 Options event, showcasing further education and training opportunities within Stockport, was held at Stockport Town Hall, on Thursday 14 June 2018.

Students and their parents were invited to attend a variety of stands to discuss Further Education Colleges, High School Sixth Forms, Apprenticeship training providers, and support services.

The stands were specifically designed to showcase the education and training options available to Stockport pupils in Years 10, 11, 12 with the intent of helping Stockport’s young people make an informed decision about their next steps.

The event – organised and staffed by the Participation & Education team, including a number of their own apprentices – was well received by parents and their children, as well as the organisations that came to exhibit. One parent commented ‘there were so many different options available, it was a great opportunity to consider different paths my daughter could take.’

Councillor Dean Fitzpatrick Cabinet Member for Education said: “This was a fantastic event for young people to attend whereby they could take part in informative discussions regarding their options when they leave school or college, helping students to make the right choices and ensure that they realize their full potential.’
