Stockport Labour Group is committed to being a credible opposition on the Council, and offering residents the best possible choice of candidates at local elections in our Borough.
Cllr Brian Hendley was deselected as a Labour candidate at a meeting of Davenport & Cale Green Labour Party members on Wednesday 1 October. On Wednesday 5 November he resigned from the Labour Party. Brian’s current term as a councillor ends in May 2015.
This follows Cllr Paul Moss’ deselection by Labour Party members in the Reddish North ward on Friday 26 September. Paul also subsequently resigned from the Labour Party and his current term as a councillor also ends in May 2015.
Leader of the Labour Group, Cllr Andy Verdeille says, “The Labour Party do not take our voters for granted, and so there is a high threshold to be selected as one of our candidates. I would like to wish Brian well in his future endeavours.”
