Statement on the Equality and Human Rights Commission Investigation into Anti-Semitism in the Labour Party

Today’s findings of the Equality and Human Rights Commission report into antisemitism in the Labour Party are the source of great shame and regret for us.

The failure of the leadership to adequately address the bullying, harassment, intimidation and victimisation of its Jewish members allowed antisemitism to become normalised within the Labour Party. This must never be allowed to happen again.

Antisemitism in the Labour Party has real, lived consequences for its members, and we stand in solidarity with the wider Jewish community. We all, in the Labour movement, have an obligation to help rebuild trust with the Jewish community. We must show humility, introspection and contrition, and all act in good faith to change the culture of our party.

We welcome the statutory obligation on the Labour Party to produce an action plan to fully and properly implement the recommendations made by the EHRC by 10 December

We stand in solidarity with one of the Labour Party’s oldest affiliates, the Jewish Labour Movement.
