The Conservative Government are reducing the funding provided to Stockport to support our local services. This will see cuts of over £60 million imposed on our borough during the next 5 years, on top of the massive cuts Stockport has already seen since 2010.
Labour are committed to protecting frontline servies as much as possible throughout this incredibly challenging period, and enabling the Council to become financially self-sufficient by 2020 when support from central Government is forecast to cease entirely.
The Executive have set out new initiatives which will help grow Stockport’s economy, support local communities and further reform public services.
Stockport residents are now being asked to provide their views on the 2017-18 Council Budget.
