Stockport Town Hall’s Ballroom will be hosting this years “Doing Dementia Differently event” on Thursday 24th May at 7:30pm.
The annual free event now in its 4th year is part of a week-long of activities to mark Dementia Action Week. The event celebrates the achievements of people living with dementia through music, film, poetry conversation and theatre performance.
Cllr Wendy Wild, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said:
“I am really happy the Doing Dementia Differently event has continued into its 4th year. The stories from people suffering from dementia are always incredibly moving and I would urge anyone who can to attend. I would also like to thank EDUCATE, Pennine Care NHS FT, NHS Stockport CCG, Stockport School and our staff in the Council in putting this event together.”
Booking for this FREE event is not required just turn up on the night – doors will be open from 6:45pm with the event starting at 7:30pm and finishing at 9:30pm.
Refreshments will be available.
Those attending will be able to make donations to support the work of EDUCATE.
This year Stockport’s Intergenerational Choir will be joined by “Together in Song” a Gospel choir from Manchester and the “Dementia Diarists” who will be reciting their powerful stories.
