CLAIM: Stockport’s Street Lights are ‘Set for a revamp to LED technology’ following ‘pressure from your local LibDem team.’
The Hazel Grove/ Brinnington Lib Dem websites have recently boasted of a Liberal ‘streetlight campaign’ featuring complaints that “Labour are letting the lights go out so they can carry on sleeping on the job” and the “patchwork nature of the network ‘ …reflects…’poorly on Stockport.”
REALITY: Labour are addressing 18 years of Lib Dem streetlight neglect in Stockport
Soon after gaining control of Stockport Council, Stockport’s Labour Executive commissioned a report into street lighting. At the Last Executive Meeting of April 14th, the Labour Executive decided to act upon this, and replace 33,00o streetlamps with energy efficient LED lamps, reducing carbon dioxide and generating millions in savings for the taxpayer.
This action was needed to address 18 years of Liberal Democrat neglect and piecemeal street lighting repair – aka Lib Dem neglect on street lighting led to the current poor situation –in Hazel Grove, Brinnington- right across Stockport.
LibDems in Stockport – useless in power, useless in opposition.
