Labour councillor and Mayor of Stockport, Chris Murphy (councillor for Brinnington & Central ward) has had a tattoo done of the Stockport crest to raise money for charity.
Cllr Chris Murphy commented:
“I am Stockport born and bred and proud to be so, and the crest is on anything to do with Stockport, including the county football shirt. I had thought about getting a tattoo for years but I had a fear of needles.
“I eventually did it to raise money for charity and to get rid of my fear of needles as I’m a bit of a coward when it comes to them. It wasn’t as bad as I thought, it didn’t really hurt, just irritated.
“My thinking was I would go through a bit of pain to raise money for people who are suffering from a lot more pain.”
The tattoo was done by local tattoo artist Mike McCabe (pictured) for free.
Chris is raising money all year for Beechwood Cancer Care Centre and Stockport Alzheimer’s Society.
