You may have heard about fake news in the media lately, relating to news stories on issues, politicians and political news – stories with little or no actual basis in fact.
Whereas ‘spin’ and economies of truth are nothing new in politics, we at Stockport Labour note a surge of creativity in relation to facts in recent months from certain opposition sources.
From actual fake news websites to extreme forgetfulness about past policies, for some reason this appears to be worsening as elections near.
We at Stockport Labour believe the fightback begins now and are launching a new page on our website dedicated to fact checking this output. This will feature regular updates on more questionable opposition output found in the Stopfordosphere, with corrections and clarifications as required.
