Our hardworking candidate for Offerton, Dan Oliver, writes ahead of Thursday’s local elections:
“Eighteen months ago I was honoured to be chosen by Offerton residents to become your candidate. Since then I have met many of you on the doorstep or at local events, to find out what is important to you and to tell you a bit about me.
“We’ve discussed potholes, parking and pavements, among other things, and we’ve shared many a drink and a laugh at events like Farm Fest and the Offerton Christmas Markets – on that note, thank you to those who visited Santa’s grotto! It has been an absolute pleasure to meet all of you and to work alongside you in making Offerton a better place to live.
“I’m standing to become your next councillor because I care about Offerton, an area that I’ve grown up in and that my family and I still live in. I care about the people who are in our community and about the schools, churches and parks that help to complete Offerton.
“Over the last few years I have seen our community become desperate for change, after broken promises, and a growing divide between Councillors and those they are supposed to represent.
“If elected, I would continue to be active and visible in our community, delivering for residents and being the representative that all of you deserve.
“If you want change, please vote for me on Thursday 3rd May.”
Dan
Don’t Vote Tactically, Vote Dan!
Last year Dan Oliver and the team proved that Labour can win in Offerton.
Andy Burnham was elected as the first Mayor of Greater Manchester, receiving more votes in Offerton than his Lib Dem and Tory rivals combined, while in June’s General Election Labour gained more support than the Lib Dems in our Ward.
There is no need to vote tactically in this election – if you want Dan to be your next councillor then he needs your vote on 3rd May!

Why Offerton is Supporting Dan
“Dan is a committed and active representative in our area, engaging with the Friends of Offerton group and helping local residents. He has raised awareness of the Offerton Community Kitchen, with us now having more volunteers and customers, and we are very proud to support Dan in this election” – Sarah Hardy, Sharon Hogg & June Young, Friends of Offerton Members
“Dan doesn’t have much time to himself because of his commitment to our community, but he still gives his time to run a youth group on Thursday evenings. Our two children attend the group and love going, saying it is lots of fun!
“Dan is a hardworking, local resident and deserves your vote! He is always willing to listen to concerns and help as much as he can, and if he can’t solve the problem then he will always get in touch with the relevant people. Any problem, big or small, one thing is clear – Dan is your man!” –
Mark & Claire Parry, Offerton Residents
“Dan is really pro-active on Bosden Farm, making a difference and supporting community events like Farm Fest, the Harvester Halloween Party and the Santa float rounds at Christmas. He is approachable and cares about our community – on a personal note; he has helped support 1st Hazel Grove Beech Beavers by hosting our UK Parliament evening, for which we are extremely grateful.” – Debbie Morley, Bosden Farm Resident
“For the first time in a long time I have restored my faith in politicians. Dan has shown to be pro-active and committed to improving our community, with changes already happening and, because of this, he will be getting my vote!” – Kathryn Tallon, Offerton Resident
