Labour offers the strong, stable and principled leadership which is the choice people across Stockport want to see at the local elections taking place today.
Labour are united in our plan to deliver positive change and run the high quality services which everybody deserves irrespective of background or where you live in the borough.
Strong local leadership becomes increasingly important with a Tory Government which is imposing heavy cuts to public services in Stockport.
An unbroken period of more than 18 years in control has left Stockport’s Liberal Democrats unable to meet that challenge. They’re in turmoil and out of ideas.
Labour offers Stockport new ideas and a fresh approach.
Labour is upbeat about the future of our borough and has the vision to transform the Council to make Stockport an even better place to live and work.
Your fantastic Labour candidates, including Charlie Stewart in Manor, Janet Glover in Offerton, Dena Ryness in Stepping Hill and Amanda Green in Bredbury and Woodley, are community champions who work hard all year round.
If elected to run the Council today Labour will build on our record of delivering for local people and we are committed to genuinely listening to your views and taking these on board when decisions are being made.
Labour is the only team at this election that can work together to truly deliver a Stockport that works for you and we ask residents to place their trust in us on Thursday 5th May.

Good morning,
I wonder if you could help me? Could you please refresh my memory and supply the stats for vote numbers at the last election please.
I’m a labour man and obviously don’t want the conservatives in, I have had daily leaflets from the Lib Dems but nothing from Labour at all, I really don’t want to waste a vote if Labour have simply given up due to no chance of winning, I’m thinking about voting Lib Dems if the stats lead me to believe Labour don’t have a chance. Of you could please advise that would be great.
Thanks and regards,
Neil Vinton.
Hi Neil,
Labour fight to win in every part of Stockport so we would always encourage you to vote for your local Labour candidate as they will be best placed to represent you as a Councillor. The Liberal Democrats currently control the Council, but without an overall majority and with Labour close behind in terms of seats, so every new Labour Councillor can make a real difference in Stockport.
Unfortunately you don’t mentioned where you live in your message, but if you want to see the election results from the last time these seats were up for election in May 2015 those can be viewed here: http://democracy.stockport.gov.uk/mgElectionResults.aspx?ID=12&RPID=5596436
Kind Regards,
Stockport Labour Group
